Batavia Murals Officially Unveiled!
Batavia's murals were officially unveiled, and the 6 artists were recognized, in an event at Water Street Studios on Saturday, October 29th. The Batavia Public Mural Program was a joint collaboration of Batavia Enterprises, the City of Batavia, Batavia MainStreet, Water Street Studios and the Batavia Arts Council. Six artists were chosen to create murals - 5 of them were placed at 180 S. Water Street and one was placed at ground level at 12 S. Water Street (next to Enticing Cuisine). The artists: Joe Gagnepain, Penny Boedigheimer, Patricia Davoust, Steven Lockwood, Dana Parisi and Claire E. Sychta.
Batavia Artist Receives Achievement Award: Ed Cook Inducted into the Illinois Senior Hall of Fame
On October 24th, at the Governor's mansion in Springfield, Batavia's own Ed Cook was inducted into the Illinois Senior Hall of Fame in the Performance and Arts category. For 30 years, Ed has painted intricately detailed miniature paintings - considered rare masterpieces. During that time, he also educated the public on this unique art form. His paintings have been recognized for merit in international miniature competitions, and by the Miniature Artists of America and Whisky Painters of America - two organizations dedicated to promoting miniature art and honoring outstanding artists of miniatures. In 1995, Ed was one of 38 miniaturists invited to London to participate in the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Miniature Society under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth.

Batavia Arts Council Mixer: November BAM - Special Program!
The Batavia Arts Council will be holding its monthly Arts Mixer on Thursday, Nov. 17th at Indigo Photographic at 117 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. We have a special program on art marketing this month. Michael Barton will be presenting "How to Market the Arts on Facebook". Michael, owner of Indigo Photographic has hundreds of friends on Indigo's Facebook page and that helps drive 3000+ unique visitors to his website every month. Tim Sullivan, publisher of the Neighbors Magazine, will present "Marketing the Arts with Neighbors Magazine". Neighbors magazine is currently sent to households in Batavia, Darien, Geneva, St. Charles, Downers Grove Bolingbrook. Local Batavia Artist to Receive Award
Our own Ed Cook has been selected as one of four people from across the State to be inducted into the Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame. Ed has been selected to receive an award in the category of Performance / Arts. The presentation of the award will be on the 24th of October at the Governors Mansion in Springfield. Congratulations Ed!
